For some men hair care is a tedious task, but it really does not have to be. Here are a few things you can do to make your hair look great for the fall season.
Pat dry your hair. When your hair is wet and you forcefully rub a towel through it, you may actually damage the cuticle of the hair, causing fizziness and split ends. A good pat down can keep your hair healthy.
Avoid the heat. When you take a piping hot shower or use a blow dryer on a high setting you have the potential to over dry your hair. Over drying hair can damage it and leave it frizzy. To avoid this you can cool down your shower a bit and lower the heat for your hair dryer. Be aware though, too cold a shower can damage hair in other ways.
Stay clear of over-washing your hair. For some hair types over-washing can cause dryness. Dry hair can lead to breaking and brittleness of the cuticles of the hair, leaving it vulnerable to the elements. Depending on your hair type, only wash between one and three times a week and use a conditioner along with it.
Avoid pulling your hair tight. A hat that is tight to your head and certain hair styles can cause a condition called “Traction Alopecia.” This is a form of gradual hair loss from tension and strain on the hair. By pulling your hair with tight hats and hairstyles such as: dreadlocks, cornrows and ponytails, you are causing damage to your hair which can be irreversible. If you have this hair style or wear hats on a regular basis, try to change it up a little bit.
Be as healthy as you can be. Eating right and staying active are keys to having healthy, handsome looking hair. Your hair needs nutrients that you get from eating good foods, if you eat a healthy diet you will in turn have healthy looking hair. Hair mainly uses protein to build itself, B vitamin to give hair softness and strength and omega-3 acids for scalp strength. Exercise also is an important part to have a healthy head of hair!
