Wedding season is on its way and we want to go over some of the common questions we get about upstyling for your big day!
How can I be sure that I’m on the same page as my service provider?
Your consultation is a key component to a successful upstyling experience and shouldn’t be taken lightly! You should be sure your service provider knows the ins and outs of your wedding during your consultation. Below is a great list of things to consider when discussing your big day with your service provider:
- What is your color scheme?
- What time of day is your wedding?
- What is the aesthetic of your wedding?
- What does your dress look like? (If you can bring in a photo of your dress, even better!)
- Is it an indoor or outdoor wedding?
- Will you be dancing the night away?
- How do you normally style your hair?
- What are some things you DON’T want to see in your style? (pulled back tight, ears showing, too much/not enough volume, etc.)
- What is your dream wedding hair?
- Do you have pictures of wedding hairstyles you like? Bring them!
These questions can help you get the look you’re going for! Take your time to think about what you want in your experience with your service provider and don’t be afraid to communicate. Do your research and check out your service provider’s Instagram page before you reserve a trial – do you like their style?
Is reserving a trial really necessary?
YES. A thousand times, YES! It is so important to schedule trials with your hair and make-up specialists. A trial reservation allows you to try a couple of options and discover what’s achievable and what will help you look and feel your best. Bring photos – we cannot stress this enough. Pictures are able to bridge the gap that words sometimes cannot.
How can I ensure everything runs smoothly on my big day?
First, and MOST important: ALL of the individuals in the bridal party need to arrive 15 minutes prior to the schedule appointment. Salons are booked to the minute and you want to ensure each member of the bridal party gets the full salon experience. All individual should also arrive with CLEAN, dry hair. Yes, you heard that right. Clean hair works best with products. Additionally, you will want to ensure your hair is DRY. Wet or damp hair does not hold an upstyle well. If you or a member of your wedding party is worried about this, you can book a blow out with your hairdresser the afternoon or evening before.
Is a “half up, half down” hairstyle still considered an upstyle?
Yes. Upstyles are very diverse and can include braids, twists, pins, curls, etc.
