Hair Health Trends to Follow in 2022
As we all know, with a new year comes new trends and discoveries of new products to try. Last year’s hair health trend revolved around scalp care, so what should we expect to be the hair health trend in 2022? Below we share the different hair health trends that will be seen everywhere in 2022.
Holistic Haircare
Consumers are now taking more time and effort to research practically everything around them (thanks social media!). People are becoming more aware that if you want to improve your hair health, its going to take a bit more than just finding the right shampoo and conditioner. Last year’s main haircare topic revolved around scalp care. This year we are seeing a continuance in scalp care, as well as all things relating to the hair itself, people taking a more holistic approach, consuming supplements, and practicing a more clean, organic, nutrient-rich diet to improve their overall health. Consumers have shifted towards long term health, instead of a quick fix. Brands are adapting to this holistic approach as well with many more brands expecting to follow suit within the years to come.
Less Heat Damage
With the ever so growing platform of TikTok, we saw a shift in hair trends through the popular hashtag #curlyhairdontcare. No-heat hairstyles have grown immensely in popularity due to the development of next-level haircare and the pandemic causing an increase in attention on one’s locks. Consumers will continue to opt for more natural hairstyles in 2022, as opposed to using a curling iron or straightener every day.
Splash Formulas
Has anyone else tried the showerless shampoo trend yet? If you haven’t, you’ll have all 2022 to try it out for yourself, since 2022 is supposed to be the year of “splash formulas.” These splash formulas are highly concentrated formulas that you don’t need to rinse out, but rather give it a light splash and pat onto the hair. These products replace the rinsing ritual and boost the shampoos internal flow due to its high-viscosity molecules. This means that less water is needed to cleanse your hair and scalp.
Mindful Haircare
Hair health trends in 2022 are revolving around a mindfulness approach. We have previously seen aromatherapy-focused shampoos and conditioners, but this year, we’ll be seeing haircare products merge with health supplements. For example, a brush-on gel that contains scented transdermal magnesium Epson salt, a natural muscle relaxer and pain reliever. You would apply this gel to the pulse points to boost your mood before your haircare regimen.
Medical Grade Scalp Treatments
It looks like scalp care is still very much the forefront of 2022 as it was in 2021, but this year it’s on an even greater level. Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) injections are becoming increasingly more popular from the end of 2021 into 2022. People are gravitating more and more towards these treatments to prevent hair loss and to improve their hair health.
Antibacterial Haircare
This might come as a shock to you, but antibacterial haircare has yet to have been created! However, that is going to change in 2022. Brands are now creating antibacterial haircare products that are safe for consumers, including cleaning sprays, antibacterial shampoos, and antibacterial moisturizers.
