Foundation can be your best friend or your worst enemy if you are not sure how to use it. Avalanche Salon and Spa is here today to share five easy steps to putting on foundation flawlessly.
The first thing you should do is find the right color. You should test it on your jawline and check it during the daytime. The best way to figure out if it’s the right color is if it disappears without blending! If you can’t afford to splurge on foundation, speak with a beauty adviser at a department store and get help finding your perfect shade. Ask for a sample, take it to a drugstore, and search for the closest match.
Prepping your skin is extremely important. It should be clean and moisturized, though you don’t want to apply foundation right after you’ve applied moisturizer. Give it at least five minutes to settle in!
If you’re looking for minimal coverage, it’s okay to use your fingers to swipe on your foundation. If you’re looking for more coverage, we advise that you use a sponge. Dab foundation where you’re looking to hide pimples, cover redness, etc. Make sure you blend the makeup all over; including around your eyes (Be careful not to get it in your eyes!) and work your way out.
If you’re using concealer, use it after you apply your foundation, otherwise you’ll use more than you need. With a concealer one shade lighter than your skin color, use a small pointy brush to cover the darkest part of under-eye circles.
Finally, finish with luminous powder! Using a translucent powder will reflect the light and help skin glow all while taking away the shine! Dust on your powder in a W motion. Starting at your hairline on one side, swoop down to your cheekbone, up to the bridge of your nose, back down the other cheek, then up again to the opposite hairline.
